Council of Yukon First Nations Grand Chief Peter Johnston wraps up 2020 with a full lineup of politics and prizes, and with COVID numbers now taking a turn for the better in (approaching zero cases in the territory), some high profile Yukoners share their high hopes and best wishes for a promising New Year. Special guests include Commissioner of the Yukon Angélique Bernard, AFN Regional Chief Kluane Adamek, Deputy Premier Ranj Pillai, Whitehorse Mayor Dan Curtis, Yukon Party Leader Currie Dixon and CYFN Executive Director Shadelle Chambers. This is a special holiday episode that looks back, looks ahead and never stops appreciating Yukon's community leaders, elders, youth, frontline workers, volunteers and all those who made a difference this year. So long, 2020 – bring it on, 2021!
Part I: Commissioner: New Year's Levee Goes Virtual
Grand Chief Peter Johnston connects with the Honourable Angélique Bernard, Commissioner of the Yukon, to talk about this year's Order of Yukon inductees and the upcoming New Year's Levee. The COVID reality isn't stopping the second annual celebration, now scheduled as a virtual event with video tributes on the Commissioner's Facebook page and Northwestel's community channel starting 2pm on January 1.

Part II: Ranj Pillai: Clean Energy To Power Recovery
Grand Chief Peter Johnston talks with Deputy Premier Ranj Pillai about the fears, challenges and successes of 2020 and the roadmap to an economic recovery in 2021. With a territorial election on the horizon, Pillai will be front and centre as the Minister responsible for Economic Development, the Department of Energy, Mines and Resources, the Yukon Development Corporation and the Yukon Energy Corporation.

Part III: CYFN 2020: Partnerships Made a Difference

Grand Chief Peter Johnston is joined by Assembly of First Nation Regional Chief Kluane Adamek to see what's new on the national stage as AFN continues its push to advocate for the priorities of First Nations across Canada. Regional Chief Adamek expresses her appreciation for the leadership Yukon's Chiefs have shown in 2020 and anticipates COVID, UNDRIP, climate change and the AFN election will be on everyone's mind in 2021.

Part V: Mayor Curtis: Inspired by Generosity, Growth
Grand Chief Peter Johnston connects with Whitehorse Mayor Dan Curtis to reflect on a rollercoaster year for the community as the capital navigated the Arctic Winter Games cancellation, as City Hall faced enormous revenue shortages and as local businesses faced unprecedented barriers in the midst of a global pandemic. Mayor Curtis shares stories of hardship and strength from 2020, discusses the extraordinary potential of Kwanlin Dün First Nation's historic Lands Act, and explains how keeping COVID to a minimum this winter will give Whitehorse – and the entire territory – a tremendous opportunity to bounce back in 2021.

Part VI: Currie Dixon: Ready For What's Next
With a territorial election approaching fast, Grand Chief Peter Johnston invites Currie Dixon, leader of the Yukon Party to talk politics, policies and the Official Opposition's priorities for 2021. Dixon believes the government's pandemic performance has been a mix of good, bad and ugly, and adds that building a strong team and connecting with Yukoners are his top resolutions this year.
