The Tradition Continues
It's another classic Yukon Rendezvous weekend – featuring the second half of our back-to-back 48th Anniversary Special celebrating Together Today For Our Children Tomorrow! Council of Yukon First Nations Grand Chief Peter Johnston welcomes elders Adeline Webber and Shirley Adamson for some amazing stories about the people, places and organizations that were instrumental in the fight for Aboriginal women's rights in Yukon. Plus, legal juggernaut Daryn Leas shares his journey inspired by the original generation of First Nations lawyers Dave Joe and Mike Smith and Grand Chief also welcomes Taku River Tlingit First Nation Spokesperson John Ward and Deputy Premier Ranj Pillai for a special announcement. Also, White River First Nation filmmaker Douglas Joe and collaborator Brendan Preston talk about an important new short film project, and CYFN Executive Director Shadelle Chambers shares some of the latest news and views on our programs and partnerships.
Part I: Adeline Webber: Our Rights, Our Journey
Our 48th Anniversary celebration of Together Today For Our Children Tomorrow continues as Grand Chief Peter Johnston welcomes a pioneer for the rights of Aboriginal women, Adeline Webber, for her stories of courage, strength, challenges and the rise of Aboriginal women during an historic era for Yukon First Nations. Her tireless work began as the founder and President of the Yukon Indian Women's Association in 1974 and continues today as the founder as President of the Whitehorse Aboriginal Women's Circle.

Part II: Shirley Adamson: Moments That Defined Us
Grand Chief Peter Johnston welcomes Tagish Kwan Elder Shirley Adamson to join in the 48th Anniversary celebration of Together Today for Our Children Tomorrow, as they talk about the changing political and social climate over the past 30 years and beyond. Adamson's lifetime of leadership, knowledge and perspective continues to shine as she shares youthful memories, stories from her community and the historic twists, turns and adventures as leader of some extraordinary organizations – including her role as Grand Chief of the Council of Yukon First Nations.

Part III: Shadelle Chambers: CYFN Update
Grand Chief Peter Johnston is joined by Shadelle Chambers, Executive Director of the Council of Yukon First Nations, for the latest update on programs, services and priorities for 2021. Shadelle introduces CYFN's promising new partnership with the John Howard Society and the important work ahead to support vulnerable Yukoners, plus preparations are underway to celebrate the first Language Centre grads and more.

Part IV: Atlin Hydro Partnership: A Boost For Yukon
Grand Chief Peter Johnston welcomes Deputy Premier and Minister of economic development Ranj Pillai to the studio to talk territorial elections, the economy and the push for clean energy projects. Spokesperson John Ward of the Taku River Tlingit First Nation then joined the Minister to make an exciting announcement about the future of the Atlin Hydro Expansion project, live on Rock the Talk.

Part V: Daryn Leas: Building on Momentum
Grand Chief Peter Johnston connects with Daryn Leas, a Tr'ondëk Hwëchin citizen and one of the influential legal minds behind the implementation of self-government agreements in Yukon. Inspired by an iconic first generation of Yukon First Nation lawyers, Dave Joe and Mike Smith, Leas has established a career path that is building on the their momentum – advancing efforts that continue to make a difference to this day.

Part VI: Shedding New Light on Lost Languages
Grand Chief Peter Johnston welcomes filmmakers Douglas Joe and Brendan Preston to the studio to talk about a new project, “Sheka Dizhi (Still Breathing) – Memories of a Dream and a Language Lost.” This powerful story about the loss of traditional languages earned plenty of kudos at the Available Light Film Festival pitch event in February. Production begins this spring and will feature a homegrown cast and some dreamy locations.
