Gear up for a politically-charged episode of Rock the Talk as Council of Yukon First Nations Grand Chief Peter Johnston welcomes a full lineup of election candidates and reminds us to Rock the Vote on April 12 – just two weeks away! Joining the Grand Chief is Yukon Party Leader Currie Dixon, along with the three candidates from Mountainview – NDP's Michelle Friesen, Yukon Party's Ray Sydney and the incumbent Liberal candidate Jeanie McLean. Plus, YFN Elections Coordinator Mathieya Alatini stops in for a Rock the Vote update and Grand Chief talks to Yukon entrepreneur Andrew Cook to hear his views and predictions for the final stretch of the 2021 campaign.

Part I: Dixon: "This Isn't Your Grandfather's Yukon Party"

Grand Chief Peter Johnston talks elections, the economy and the future of the territory with Currie Dixon, Leader of the Yukon Party and candidate for Copperbelt North in Whitehorse. Dixon shares his vision for education, the pandemic and Yukon's economic recovery, along with his plans to revisit the Yukon First Nations Procurement Policy. With just two weeks until election day, Dixon believes communities are ready for a change and that Yukon First Nations will overlook old attitudes, adding "This isn't your grandfather's Yukon Party."

Part II: Jeanie McLean: Let's Keep Going

Grand Chief Peter Johnston welcomes Yukon Liberal incumbent Jeanie McLean to the studio to talk about an unprecedented year and what's at stake in the 2021 election. McLean reflects on some of her party's enormous challenges and achievements and speaks about her role as Minister responsible for Tourism, the Worker's Compensation Health and Safety Board, and the Women's Directorate. McLean's efforts to advance Yukon's Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and Two-Spirit People Strategy shines through and she stresses the importance of building on success – starting with her quest for re-election in the Whitehorse riding of Mountainview.

Part IV: YP's Ray Sydney: Ready to Take Action

Grand Chief Peter Johnston welcomes the Yukon Party's Mountainview candidate Raymond Sydney to the show for a closer look at the issues that matter in his riding. Getting the economic engine up and running is a major part of the Yukon Party platform, says Sydney, and says his experiences in justice, community safety, health and family services and working as a Councillor for Kwanlin Dün First Nation has set the stage for his campaign to become a Member of the Legislative Assembly. "It's the right time for me to come forward."

Cook, who runs North of 60 Antiquities, is totally plugged in to Yukon's past, present and future, and has plenty to say about Yukon's 2021 election journey so far.
