Deep Purple
Council of Yukon First Nations Grand Chief Peter Johnston welcomes a full spectrum of special guests, with Premier Sandy Silver making his return to the show to talk COVID, the economic recovery and the rapidly evolving politics of a pandemic. Grand Chief also brings purple into focus, connecting with CYFN's Chantel Genier to talk about Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Plus, Michelle Friesen stops by after becoming the first Indigenous citizen to win a seat on Whitehorse City Council since 1994. Grand Chief also talks successes and resources with Greg Thompson from Kwanlin Dun First Nation's Lands team, explores new trends and frontiers in the world of cannabis with Jeremy Jones from Triple J's Canna Space, and welcomes Rhiannon Klein to the show to introduce Yukon University's new speaker series on Indigenous Governance.
Part I: KDFN Lands: From Promises to Successes
Grand Chief Peter Johnston invites Director of Heritage, Lands and Resources for Kwanlin Dün First Nation, Greg Thompson to talk about the progress being made to build on their successes and follow through on promises made since the mid-'80s. As one of the only Self-Governing First Nations in Canada advancing land management and development priorities within a capital city, KDFN's team has plenty be proud of.

Part II: Michelle Friesen: A New Voice at City Hall
Grand Chief Peter Johnston welcomes Michelle Friesen back to the show to talk about her historic October 21 victory, becoming the first Yukon First Nations citizen to be elected as a Whitehorse City Councillor in over 25 years. Friesen, who received the second-highest number of votes, reflects on her political journey and praises the energy and diversity of the new Council as City Hall prepares for some enormous challenges ahead.

Part III: Domestic Violence: Facing The Facts
Grand Chief Peter Johnston connects with Chantel Genier, Sr. Justice Analyst at the Council of Yukon First Nations, to talk about the latest stats, studies and the stigma around domestic violence. A complex issue with complex solutions, Genier examines why rates of family violence in the North are three times higher than the rest of Canada, and what our communities can do about it.

Part IV: Triple J's: New Frontiers of Cannabis
Grand Chief Peter Johnston welcomes Jeremy Jones, CEO of Triple J's Canna Space in Whitehorse, to talk about some current sector trends and what's new on the therapeutic and medicinal frontiers. Jones talks innovation, history and the evolution of cannabis in a changing national (and global) marketplace.

Part V: Premier Silver: Keeping Things in Perspective
